It may not be Monet or Michaelangelo, but it's a masterpiece of a unique art form. For
less than the price of admission to the Museum of Modern Art, you can take this gallery of
classic Droodles home to meet the parents.
With a commentary by art historian R.A. Lovka, B.S., M.A. the book is rich with
insights into Roger Price's genius and his close association with colleages who insist on
using two-letter initials in front of their last names - and sometimes, after them.
Who knew that the happy-go-lucky author had a dark and confused past? The book reveals
that this droodle was Roger's attempt to fill the emptiness inside. Though he initially
called it "Mended Doughnut", Roger reached an anal retentive state by renaming
it to "Plate of Spaghetti Served by Neat Waiter".
Ponder on this collection of the finest works-on-napkin that Miss Schlaminski's
Kindergarten class has seen since the big "paint spill". But, truth be told, in
this world of political correctness, some drawings may be offensive to 85-year old
trombone players who live with their parents. - L.N. Valdes
